Genus: Protea

The flamboyant genus giving the Proteaceae family its name. Named after the Greek shapeshifting sea god ‘Proteus’.  This genus comes in all shapes, sizes and colours with a long vase life.  The most outstanding species is that of Protea cynaroides or the King Protea, South Africa’s national flower. The colourful bracts of the showy inflorescence are tailored for every occasion. Ayoba® Arctic Ice is one such a conversation starter with its striking white crown.
